ENG 243 - Native American Autobiography |
The course will provide a link between cultural anthropology
and literature where the students will be asked to study
literary works as cultural documents. The area to be studied
is that of the Plains Indians. The students will read
first-person narratives describing lives of Indians along
with studying cultural anthropology. The class will be
structured around works of literary scholars, historical
scholars, anthropologists, and autobiographies. The goal of
the class is to give students a fuller picture of the voices
and visions of Plains Indian culture.
