Emphasis of this course will be to provide competence with
the concepts, problem solving, calculator usage and
applications of basic mathematics. There will be emphasis on
strengthening the students? skills with fractions and
decimals. Students will learn order of operations; ratio;
proportion; percent; estimation; measurement (US and
Metric); average; and perimeter and area of basic shapes.
Applications for technical careers will be incorporated into
the class for those students in professional/technical
programs. Required equipment: DAL scientific calculator
purchase after instructor recommendation.
