D 185 - Ballet 1 |
This is a beginning level class that accommodates the
pre-major and non-major student. This class develops the
student's awareness of alignment in basic ballet vocabulary.
Floor barre and standing barre work is introduced in simple
exercises which incorporate: use of the spine and torso;
outward rotation of the legs; and use of the arms in port de
bras. The goal of this class is to create a strong
technical foundation, core support and a working
understanding of outward rotation and standing leg
stability. Given realistic progressive development, students
will repeat this level for a full year or more. Class is
repeatable up to 12 credits.
