The origin and diffusion of civilization in the ancient
world. World History is the story of civilization on a
global stage. Attention will be paid to the often neglected
peoples of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America,
and to the interaction between these peoples and the West.
The course may be taken in addition to the traditional
History of Western Civilization course. It will enrich and
enhance the Western Civilization course by introducing
students to non-Western cultures. May be taken out of
sequence.
