Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: • Describe the organizational structure and general processes of the United States criminal justice system. • Summarize the philosophical and legal principles that underpin,guide, and circumscribe the administration of justice in theUnited States. • Interpret the development o fcriminal law and criminal justice institutions in the historical context of gender, ethnic, and race relations in the United States . • Critically evaluate the goals and functional roles of law enforcement, the courts, and corrections as they apply to society and society's official response to crime. • Explain the requirements for entrance into the most common criminal justice careers.
