Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Gain an understanding of ecotourism/green tourism/nature-based tourism: its ideologies, practices, and pitfalls. 2. Explore the relationship of tourism and ecotourism to international development issues. 3. Understand the relationship between the tourism industry and the natural environment. 4. Study factors that influence tourism. 5. Explore tools that help industry professionals manage tourism activity. 6. Understand how business people, government officials and travelers shape global tourism. 7. Understand the impacts, both positive and negative, that tourism creates.
