Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Use pre-writing skills to generate writing topics. 2. Use pre-writing skills to plan well-organized paragraphs evaluating for the concepts of unity, coherence, and adequate development. 3. Identify the key elements of a well-developed paragraph. 4. Write unified, coherent, and well-developed expository paragraphs that include a topic sentence, supporting details, and a concluding sentence for any five of the following organizational patterns: 1) Narrative, 2) Process, 3) Opinion/persuasive, 4) Summary, 5)Comparison/contrast, 6) Definition, 7) Descriptive, 8) Cause/effect. 5. Edit and revise written work to produce a variety of effective, standard sentences. 6. Edit and revise written work to include unity, coherence, and adequate development.
