FN 255 - Medical Nutrition Therapy
Associated Term: Fall 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Document food preferences and customs and interact with cultural competency. 2. Describe the roles of various health professionals involved with nutrition. 3. Compare the nutritional needs of the life cycle, including at risk populations 4. Determine basic concepts and terms of MNT and how they relate to long-term care, acute care, and home settings 5. Understand the application of therapeutic diets for different medical conditions and be familiar with utilizing a diet manual. 6. Define the role and procedures for nutrition screening in a variety of medical settings 7. Evaluate case studies and the goals of MNT for individuals living with a variety of health conditions.
