Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Recognize the main idea in paragraphs and longer pieces of writing. 2. Locate supporting details within paragraphs. 3. Identify organizational patterns of writing. 4. Formulate inferences based on reading passages. 5. Take notes in various formats such as margin notes, outlines, concept maps, etc. 6. Write summaries of reading material. 7. Compare thematic elements in different reading selections. 8.
