MUS 225 - Sight-reading and Ear Training (Second Term)
Associated Term: Spring 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Sing chromatic melodies, and melodies that modulate using solfeggio and hand signs. 2. Aurally identify secondary dominants, Neapolitan and augmented sixth chords, and other altered and extended harmonies and poly chords using Roman numeral as well as contemporary lead sheet notation. 3. Notate melodies that are chromatic, or that modulate. 4. Notate four-part diatonic material up to four measures in length. 5. Name and notate stylistic rhythmic patterns and groupings, or patterns that metrically modulate. 6. Sing melodies that are written in less common signatures and clefs.
