Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Properly operate transcription software and peripherals, as well as creating documents with a word processor/computer. 2. Spell and define a list of five basic medical terms with 80% accuracy. 3. Use appropriate English grammar as evidenced by 80% accuracy on a test of 30 basic examples. 4. Recognize basic formats for basic hospital and provider office reports as defined in the text. 5. Transcribe dictated material accurately as evidenced by 80% accuracy. 6. Produce a mailable letter from material presented. 7. Transcribe dictated material with reasonable speed (55 lines in an hour based on a 65 character line). 8. Use acceptable technique in correcting errors. 9. Select and use appropriate references. 10.
