HE 152 - Drugs, Society and Behavior
Associated Term: Spring 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Trace the history of drug use in the United States. 2. Explain the nature of drugs including tolerance, withdrawal and dependency. 3. Understand basic terminology pertaining to use and abuse of drugs. 4. Describe basic physiological impact of drugs on the brain and body. 5. Classify and describe the actions and effects of common drugs of abuse. 6. Identify health risks of common drugs of abuse. 7. Trace the development of laws to regulate and control drugs. 8. Assess the impact of specific drug issues on the community, the family, and the individual.
